Le Chant des lieux and GEOL

Soundwalk géologique

Soundwalk géologique

Glacier Aletsch

20.07.24

11:15, 14h:00

The wild, untamed landscape is their stage. The mountains’ rugged beauty and gripping legends are their inspiration. And you, complete with wireless headset, are their audience. On the soundwalks devised by Emilie Vuissoz and Didier Métrailler, no unwanted noise punctuates the silence of the mountains. Visitors listen to the environment with focus and purpose, while geologist Thierry Basset recounts the geological history of places selected for their resonant quality and the myths associated with them. Completing the soundscape are improvised music and poetry, based on the sounds of nature and recorded using percussive objects found on site. These recordings interact with the inspiring energy and magnetism of the settings: the Tsanfleuron Glacier, the Chasseral Nature Park, the Zinal Glacier Cave, the Ferpècle Valley and, in this case, the Aletsch Glacier.

Le Chant des Lieux is an association founded in 2015 by Emilie Vuissoz, a trained pianist and music therapist, and Didier Métrailler, a percussionist who studied at the Haute École de Musique (HEM) in Geneva and plays in various classical and contemporary orchestras. They share an interest in traditional song and in contemporary, ethnic and electronic music.
