The Maison de Ribaupierre was built in 1543, extended in 1802 and renovated in 1933. In 2005, the municipality of Évolène purchased the building and donated it to La Maison des Alpes. In 2011, this non-profit embarked on a fresh round of renovation work in a bid to preserve the original features of this stand-out example of local built heritage. In 2017, the organisation opened an Alpine landscape education centre as a way to breathe new life into the structure and support sustainable, high-quality geotourism in the local area.
Sonner le gla[s]cier is an interdisciplinary project offering an artistic reflection on the inevitable disappearance of glaciers. Through original works created in situ following a weekend of exchanges with scientists in the field, the exhibition takes a poetic look at the situation, between representations of the past, current reality and future projections.
With the participation of Barbezat-Villetard, Sarah Casey, Frédéric Fourdinier, Lionel Fournier, Basile Richon, Gabrielle Rossier and Alexia Turlin.
